    All About Puppies

    The Adoption Process

Our puppies are our family, so we work hard to make sure they go to the best homes. We reserve the right to decline applications for any reason.

We keep a waiting list for each upcoming litter. Once pregnancy is confirmed, we require a $250 deposit to reserve a puppy. To be added to the list, you must fill out an application and send deposit. We do not hold spots without deposit.

    Our Process

    Early Neurological Stimulation

Beginning at 3 days old and continuing through day 16, we do ENS with our puppies. The US Military developed this program and it has 5 major benefits: 1. Improved Cardiovascular Performance, 2. Stronger heart beats, 3. Stronger adrenal glands, 4. More tolerance to stress, 5. Greater resistance to disease.

This consists of 5 exercises, performed daily for a total of 3-5 seconds each.

    1. Tactile stimulation - holding the pup in one hand, the handler gently stimulates (tickles) the pup between the toes on any one foot using a Q-tip. It is not necessary to see that the pup is feeling the tickle. Time of stimulation 3 - 5 seconds.
    2. Head held erect - using both hands, the pup is held perpendicular to the ground, (straight up), so that its head is directly above its tail. This is an upwards position. Time of stimulation 3 - 5 seconds.
    3. Head pointed down - holding the pup firmly with both hands the head is reversed and is pointed downward so that it is pointing towards the ground. Time of stimulation 3 - 5 seconds.
    4. Supine position - hold the pup so that its back is resting in the palm of both hands with its muzzle facing the ceiling. The pup while on its back is allowed to sleep. Time of stimulation 3-5 seconds.
    5. Thermal stimulation—use a damp towel that has been cooled in a refrigerator for at least five minutes. Place the pup on the towel, feet down. Do not restrain it from moving. Time of stimulation 3-5 seconds.

    Potty Training

Our puppies begin using a litter box in their puppy room, around 2.5-3 weeks of age. This teaches them that there is a designated place to go potty. We transition them to going outside to potty as they get older. By the time they go home, they are well on their way to being house trained.

    Socialization and Training

We follow part of the Puppy Culture program with our puppies beginning at 4 weeks of age. We teach them socialization and safely introduce them to people of all ages. They are exposed to different environmental stimuli, noises, etc., so that they are well adjusted puppies when you bring them home. They grow up in our home with our family and are constantly around people including our children and other dogs. They are exposed to daily noises such as dishes, vacuums and more. We take them for car and golf cart rides to get them used to riding. We introduce crate training around this same age to hopefully provide an easy transition to their new homes.
